Maternity and Pregnancy

Denver Health has been providing health care to Colorado and Denver for more than 160 years and offers all the services you will need during your pregnancy, delivery and after your baby is born. Our experienced team is here to provide you and your baby with a happy, healthy new beginning! Denver Health delivers more than 3,500 babies every year, which accounts for about one third of all Denver babies. We accept nearly all forms of insurance, including Medicaid. Patients are able to come to Denver Health for their Maternity and Pregnancy services regardless of their county of residence.

Our maternity care program is now ranked among the best in the United States, as verified by the 2023 Leapfrog Group Hospital Survey. We're proud of all our providers and staff who have delivered extraordinary service to mothers, newborns, and all the families in our community.

Some examples of the outstanding performance metrics for 2023 include:

  • One of 159 hospitals to receive a 5 ribbon performance and 1 of 4 hospitals in Denver to receive this award.
  • Zero percent of women had elective delivery between 37-39 weeks gestation (Seventh year in a row).
  • C-section rate for primiparous, term, vertex presentation of less than the national benchmark of 23.6%.
  • Low episiotomy rate.

Maternity and Pregnancy Services

Prenatal Care

At Denver Health, there are many clinics available for prenatal care. You can select one of our Family Health Centers located throughout metro Denver or you may choose to receive care on the main Denver campus at our Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic. There are several types of prenatal care providers at Denver Health, including physicians, midwives and nurse practitioners.

Labor and Delivery

Our Pavilion C for Women and Children offers the ideal setting for your child's birth. Expert providers, including physicians and midwives, are here for you during this time. In addition, Denver Health offers doula services at no expense. We have large, private labor and delivery rooms. After delivery, moms and their babies recover on the Mom/Baby Unit where there are also private rooms for mom, baby and close family members to spend some quiet time together before going home.

Denver Health Classes and Events

Don't miss these opportunities to learn about labor, delivery and caring for your baby. Classes require $35 nonrefundable registration fee, however, if you need financial support or are a Denver Health Employee please contact info4moms2be@dhha.org or please call 303-602-5526. We recommend that you participate in classes during your third trimester. Your support person, dad or partner is welcome to attend class. No children please. Classes fill up fast, so register early!

Register for Maternity Classes and Events

You must pre-register for ALL classes. If you have difficulty registering online, or would like to attend a class and are not a Denver Health patient, please call 303-602-5526 or email info4moms2be@dhha.org. Email and phone inquiries are answered during business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Please make sure your email address is correctly entered when you register. We will contact you via email regarding any class schedule changes such as bad weather. Classes may be canceled if we do not have a minimum number of registrations.

If you are unable to attend a class, please contact us at least 48 hours before your scheduled class. Your future class registrations will be CANCELED if you register for a class, do not attend and do not notify us. Class registration changes can be made online, by email info4moms2be@dhha.org or by calling 303-602-5526.

Be sure to check regularly for updated information about tours, classes and events and remember to pre-register for all classes.
