Jack Spencer Award given to long time Denver Public Health Physician
The prestigious Jack Spencer Award which honors an individual for a career of exceptional contributions to excellence in STD prevention characterized by outstanding commitment to science-based programs, continuous innovation, and profound commitment to helping people was given to Dr. Cornelieus "Kees" Reitmeijer. Kees was the first recipient to receive a perfect score and was nominated by 4 individuals across the country!  Click here to watch the award being presented at the National STD Prevention Conference, 

COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSESSMENT
Denver Public Health and Denver Environmental Health recently completed a Community Health Assessment that surveys Denver in 14 major health topics. This report highlights our city’s successes and identifies areas for improvement, such as access to health care, obesity, mental health, substance abuse, and tobacco use.  This year, Denver Health and the City and County of Denver will work with a broad range of stakeholders and reach out to the public to create a community health improvement plan. Expand public health services while maintaining expertise and interest in our current focus areas.

  • To link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when unavailable.
  • To enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety.
