The Position: Certified Nursing Assistant – Nursing Float Pool
THIS IS A POOLING REQUISITION FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:
Intermittent only (minimum of 2 shifts per week required)
Newly licensed CNAs will be considered.
An active CNA certification posted on the DORA website and an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification are required to be considered for this position.
Under general supervision, floats to all in-patient areas and Emergency Department according to scope of practice according to the DH floating guidelines. First to float to a different unit as the staffing needs of the hospital change. Assists professional nursing and care providers in providing care to all patients with respect for their uniqueness. Collaborates with the RN and healthcare team. Assists with basic patient care and activities of daily living. Maintains unit specific documentation as required. Orders, maintains and utilizes supplies for the assigned unit.
*Required to fulfill weekend/holiday and “hard to staff days” commitment per departmental policy. Schedules will be posted in advance but unit assignments will be given on a day-to-day basis.

- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Typically, one year experience in health care.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
- Certificate/License/Registration: Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR. Certified Nursing Assistant.
