Denver Health, Department of Medicine seeks to add an accomplished physician (clinician-educator or translational/clinical critical care investigator) to its acclaimed Pulmonary and Critical Care Group. The section of pulmonary and critical care staffs the closed-management 24-bed Medical/Cardiac ICU, 12 bed Med-Surg progressive care unit, the pulmonary consultation services and clinics and is nationally acclaimed for delivery of high quality academic clinical care, cutting-edge clinical research and outstanding patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an outstandingly trained pulmonary and critical care clinician.
    • Experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, sleep medicine or interventional bronchoscopy is desirable.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, team-based academic environment with responsibility for senior fellows, residents and mid-level providers.
    • Experience in managing multi-professional teams is highly desirable.
  • Be an independent thinker capable of making accurate, pathophysiologically sound decisions regarding diagnosis, treatment, care-transitions, appropriate and responsible resource utilization and end-of-life care.
  • Demonstrate a credible patient-centered approach to holistic care.
    • Experience in caring for patients from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities is an advantage as is fluency in medical Spanish.
  • Display poise, maturity and self confidence.
  • Be committed to developing, enhancing and supervising educational efforts in pulmonary and critical medicine for residents, fellows, nurses, respiratory therapists and ancillary healthcare providers.
  • Be committed to developing, enhancing and supervising educational efforts in pulmonary and critical medicine for residents, fellows, nurses, respiratory therapists and ancillary healthcare providers.
  • Be engaged in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives in the section.
  • Actively participate in academic activities and assume teaching responsibilities in the University-based fellowship and internal medicine residency program.

The ideal candidate will be Pulmonary, Critical Care and Internal Medicine Board Certified. Additional BC/BE in Sleep medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is desirable.

Faculty appointment in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine is a benefit of the appointment.
