Dr. Mehler is an internationally recognized eating disorder specialist and provides ACUTE patients’ medical care while they are hospitalized. He is the Medical Director of the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders, Glassman Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and former Chief Medical Officer of Denver Health Medical Center.

Mehler earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and has been a physician at Denver Health for more than 20 years. He has dedicated his career to the research and care of patients suffering from severe eating disorders. In addition to serving as Chief Medical Officer at Denver Health, he has continued to conduct research into the treatment of the most severe eating disorders cases and the complications that can arise in anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Dr. Mehler has authored more than 300 publications, many of which are concerning the treatment and effects of severe eating disorders. His textbook, Medical Complications of Eating Disorders, was published by the Johns Hopkins University Press. The second edition currently is available on Amazon.com.

Dr. Mehler is the recipient of the Academy of Eating Disorders 2012 Outstanding Clinician Award, receiving international recognition for his lifetime of service and contributions to the field of eating disorders. Dr. Mehler is a member and fellow of the Eating Disorders Research Society and the Academy of Eating Disorders. He has lectured extensively on a national and international level as the leading medical expert on the topic. Dr. Mehler has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America” for the past 13 years and multiple times by 5280 Magazine as the "Top Internist in Denver."

Dr. Jennifer L. Gaudiani, MD, CEDS, is the Associate Medical Director of ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders at Denver Health, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Hospitalist at Denver Health Medical Center. As the Associate Medical Director, Dr. Gaudiani provides medical care to hospitalized ACUTE patients and oversees the clinical, strategic, and administrative management of ACUTE. When not attending on the service clinically, she maintains engagement with each patient to encourage, motivate and monitor progress throughout their treatment course. 

Dr. Gaudiani completed her undergraduate work at Harvard College, earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, and completed her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Yale. Dr. Gaudiani is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, has published extensively on the medical complications of eating disorders, and has lectured both nationally and internationally on the topic. In 2013 Dr. Gaudiani was sponsored by the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED) for a multi-city lecture tour in both these countries. She is a regular contributor to Eating Disorder Hope and Eating Disorder Blogs and hosts a monthly professional webinar series on medical complications of eating disorders. Dr. Gaudiani is a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED), a Board Member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) and serves as Medical Liaison Chairperson for the IAEDP Denver Chapter.

Dr. Mascolo is a hospitalist at Denver Health and lead physician at ACUTE. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas and earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado in Denver. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Brown completed her undergraduate work at University of Portland and earned her medical degree from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. She completed her residency here at the University of Colorado. Dr. Brown is board certified in Internal Medicine and works as a hospitalist at Denver Health.
