Skin Cancer Excision

The Plastic Surgery Service works together with Dermatology to treat skin cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, on the face. Once Dermatology has proven a skin lesion to be cancer by a biopsy, we can provide wide excision of the skin cancer.

We work with our Pathology department so that, intra-operatively, we can access if the margins of the excision are free and clear of cancer. We provide immediate reconstruction to address the defect where the cancer was removed. These reconstruction options include local flap reconstruction and full thickness skin grafting.
