Vince J. Markovchick, MD, FACEP, director, emergency medical services, Denver Health, has been named by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) as a Hero of Emergency Medicine. This award recognizes emergency physicians who have made significant contributions to emergency medicine, their communities and their patients. Dr. Markovchick has been instrumental in the development of emergency medicine for more than 30 years. He served on the American Board of Emergency Medicine and was its president from 1999-2000. He also served on the ACEP Academic Affairs Committee for four years and was its chairman from 1985-1987.ACEP is a national specialty society representing emergency medicine with more than 25,000 members.
