Welcome to the Denver Health Foundation
The Denver Health Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that supports Denver Health, the Rocky Mountain region’s safety net hospital system.

Since 1860, Denver Health has played a crucial role in sustaining a standard of health care that has resulted in Denver’s reputation as one of our nation’s healthiest cities.  It has done so by its commitment to a mission that includes access to high quality health care for everyone, including the region’s most vulnerable populations; superb emergency and trauma care; public health vigilance; education of the next generation of health care professionals; and research to advance the care of its patients.

Upholding Denver Health’s long-standing mission is not the job of a few concerned citizens – it is a job for all of us.  To find out how you can help, explore the Foundation’s web pages.  To learn about how you can make a difference, read about our giving opportunities.  You can make a gift today online to support a variety of Denver Health programs and to learn about volunteer opportunities at Denver Health.

About Denver Health Foundation
The Denver Health Foundation raises private funds from individuals, corporations and foundations, and disburses those funds into designated Denver Health programs.  Privately raised funds are used for patient care, medical research, professional education, facilities development, academic program enrichment and equipment purchases.  All funds are used to ensure the highest quality of care for current and future patients and a preeminent educational experience for future health care professionals training at Denver Health.

Between 1997 and 2006, Denver Health Foundation has raised more than $24 million to fund programs, facilities, endowments and research at Denver Health.

The Foundation accepts gifts of cash, securities and assets, such as real estate and other in-kind gifts that support programs.  All gifts qualify for the charitable gift deduction allowed by the IRS.

History
The Denver Health Foundation was chartered in 1988 and its original intent was to enable Denver Health, then known as Denver General, to own patents and other intellectual property.  At that time, the Foundation had no staff or resources and did not engage in proactive fundraising efforts.  For a number of years, the Foundation was inactive.

The Foundation’s 501(c)(3) status was reactivated in 1998 to support the hospital’s transition from its role as a department of the City to its own Denver Health and Hospitals Authority.

Since 1998, the Foundation has:

  • completed four endowments and begun campaigns to raise money for six more for a total of ten;
  • raised dollars for several capital projects;
  • raised and assisted program staff in raising funds for service delivery to vulnerable populations in several program areas;
  • created and produced an annual Triumph Over Challenge Gala that has grown every year since its inception in 2000;
  • conducted a Capital Campaign Feasibility Study;
  • partnered with University of Phoenix to introduce and produce the Newborns in Need campaign and baby shower program to serve the needs of low-income new mothers and their infants.

Denver Health Foundation Mission
The Denver Health Foundation supports Denver Health in its mission to sustain and advance the health and well being of Denver and the Rocky Mountain region.
