Denver Health teams with others to create smoke free campuses
Denver Health and 12 other Denver metro hospitals announced on June 30 plans that their campuses will go tobacco free. On January 1, 2009, Denver Health will go tobacco free. CEO Patricia Gabow, M.D., was joined by executives from HealthONE, Centura Health and Kaiser Permanente to announce that they will ban use of all tobacco products.
The ban means Denver Health will no longer offer smoking designed areas anywhere on their campuses, including parking areas, outdoor walkways or grassy areas. Denver Health will offer smoking cessation assistance through programs such as the Colorado Quitline to support tobacco user's efforts to quit.
