Last year the Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health unit had 624 inpatient admissions, 5,887 outpatient care visits, and 3,088 substance abuse treatment visits. These alarming statistics speak to the dramatic and urgent need to treat childhood mental illness. Nationally, 1 in 5 children has a diagnosable mental disorder. As with any illness, early intervention is life-saving and life changing, and makes a world of difference in helping these children achieve stable and healthy lives before it’s too late.
