Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, the Honorable Terrance Carroll, and President of the Colorado State Senate, the Honorable Peter Groff met with Patricia A Gabow, M.D, CEO, Elbra Wedgeworth, chief government relations officer, and Jake Allen, manager, Government Relations, November 10, to discuss Denver Health’s legislative priorities for the upcoming session.

Dr. Gabow gave the senators her “unique resources” presentation, which includes information on Denver Health’s operating budget, number of employees, number of patients served annually and resources that Denver Health brings to Denver such as the 911 medical emergency response system, the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center, Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center, etc. Dr. Gabow’s presentation also included information on Denver Health’s role as an academic medical center, such as the number of students that rotate through Denver Health, the number of university housestaff working at Denver Health and the 28 specialties that interns and residents are trained in.
