The ID Clinic collects co-pays at the time of the scheduled appointment. Patients with HIV infection do not have a co-pay unless their income is greater than 100 percent of the federal poverty level.

Clinicians coordinate comprehensive primary medical care using many of the services below. Appointments can be made by calling the main clinic number, 303-436-7240. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with extended hours to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Psychiatric and substance-abuse treatment
Psychiatric and substance-abuse services are completely integrated into HIV care in the ID Clinic. The clinic has a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse-clinician, and certified addictions counselor.

Social work
The clinic has dedicated social work staff to provide counseling, coordinate services outside Denver Health, assist with disability applications, and make arrangements for placement in other facilities (nursing home, hospice, inpatient substance-abuse treatment, structured living facilities), as needed. Social work staff see all patients with HIV infection who are hospitalized; arrangements for outpatient visits with the social work staff are made directly with the social worker involved.

Outreach
The ID Clinic has staff members who work with patients in the community to improve access to care and adherence with treatment. The outreach team sees all hospitalized patients to develop plans for outpatient care. Referrals for the outreach team are made through the clinic primary care providers or with the outreach nurse.

HIV prevention in care
The ID Clinic has a program to decrease HIV transmission risk behavior among persons in HIV care.
