William Burman, MD, is an infectious disease specialist with a particular interest in HIV care and prevention. He has worked at Denver Public Health since 1995, initially as Director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic and a researcher on tuberculosis and HIV. Since becoming Director of Denver Public Health in 2011, Dr. Burman has focused on the assessment of the health of Denver's residents, the development of population-level interventions in public health, and improving communication with Denver Public Health's partners and the larger community.

Judith Shlay, MD, MSPH, Associate Director

Judith C. Shlay, MD, MSPH, a family medicine physician, is the Associate Director of Denver Public Health. She also serves as Director of Health Promotion and Quality Improvement, Medical Director of the Denver Public Health Immunization and Travel Clinic, and local registrar for Denver County. A Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Shlay has worked on various programs at Denver Public Health for the past 25 years. She has been the principal investigator for a number of projects focusing on cardiovascular disease prevention, immunization delivery, teen pregnancy prevention, reproductive health, family planning, STDs, tobacco prevention, HIV-related peripheral neuropathy, and HIV-related metabolic disorders. Besides her public health work, Dr. Shlay is a primary care provider through Denver Health's Community Health Services Department.
