TB facts

The Denver Metro Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic provides treatment and care for people with tuberculosis who live in the Denver Metro Area. This includes adults and children living in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Jefferson, and Douglas Counties.

What is TB?

TB is a disease caused by germs that are spread between people through the air. It usually affects the lungs but may also affect other parts of the body, including the brain, kidneys or spine. It can be deadly if left untreated.

The best way to prevent the spread of TB is to be tested if you think you have been exposed and to be treated if you have tested positive. It is very important that people with TB get and complete treatment. If diagnosed with TB, your treatment will be offered for free.

You can learn more about TB, including tuberculosis symptoms, by visiting our TB fact page.

What do we offer you?

Denver Metro TB Clinic Leading Efforts to Eliminate TB in Colorado

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world's deadliest diseases. Thousands of Colorado residents are infected with TB and more than 60 people become sick from it each year. To mark 2015 World TB Day (March 24), the Denver Metro TB Clinic announced the development of the Colorado Tuberculosis Elimination Plan. Read the press release detailing efforts to eliminate tuberculosis in Colorado. You can also listen to a recent Colorado Matters interview with Dr. Robert Belknap to learn more about the elimination plan.

TB Peers Honor Randall Reves, MD, with Prestigious National Award

Congratulations to Dr. Reves who recently received the fifth annual William Stead Clinician Award at the National Tuberculosis Controllers Association meeting. Recipients are nominated and selected by peers in the National Society of TB Clinicians in recognition of outstanding commitment and performance by a clinician providing tuberculosis care, leadership, or mentoring.

Dr. Reves has exemplified outstanding performance in all three of these areas during his career. Despite retiring in 2013, he continues to volunteer weekly as a clinician at the Denver Metro TB Clinic, was elected as the incoming president for the International Union against TB and Lung Disease, North American Region, and continues to be a mentor for Denver Public Health physicians and other physicians in Denver.
