Note to Our Patients About Potential Changes to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)

Changes to federal health care are in the news again after Senate leadership released a draft of the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA). This is the bill that proposes to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

We understand that this legislation could have a significant impact on patients. We will continue to advocate for your best interests, irrespective of politics, and will work at a local and national level to secure the funding that will allow us to provide the best possible care for the people in our community.

Denver Health has been caring for our city and community for more than 150 years. The cornerstone of our mission and our reason for existence is to provide the highest quality health services to everyone, regardless of insurance or ability to pay. This mission is something we take very seriously — we have a rock-solid commitment to providing care to everyone in need.

We recognize changes may be coming to health care policy. As more amendments to the bill may be forthcoming, we do not yet know the full extent of how the changes will impact Medicaid, Medicare or other options for health insurance.

While there are still unknowns, we do know this: Whether you're an existing patient, or new to Denver Health, we will provide you with high quality health care, and we will always advocate on your behalf. Denver Health is well positioned for the future — we have strong partnerships with city, state and federal governments, local organizations, and the community we serve. As we have done in the past, we adapt to changes, we find new ways forward, and we continue to focus on caring for the Denver community.

We also want you to know that our organizational focus is on our values of trust, respect and excellence. Respect, in particular, is important at a time when diverse opinions have been aired. If you choose Denver Health, you will always be treated with respect — regardless of your nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, social background, insurance status, income or any other factor.

Never has there been a greater need for the care we provide. If you are a patient, we thank you for trusting us with your care, and if you are not yet a patient, know that we will be here whenever you need us.
