What to Bring

Pregnant Woman Arriving at HospitalThere are many things you'll want to bring with you to the hospital to make your stay more comfortable. Here are some suggestions to help you start your own packing list for both mom and baby, as well as a few reminders on things to leave at home.

For Mom:
  • Photo ID and insurance card
  • Birth plan (optional)
  • Toiletries
  • Nightgown, robe, slippers/socks
  • Personal comfort items (i.e. pillow, music, special photos, book, etc.)
  • Camera, video camera, batteries, power cords, memory cards
  • Nursing/maternity bra, maternity underpants
  • Outfit for going home – typically something that fit you when you were 5 or 6 months pregnant

For Baby:

  • Installed infant car seat
  • Baby going-home outfit
  • Baby blanket

What Not to Bring to the Hospital:

  • Jewelry, cash or other valuables
  • Medication – you and your baby will be provided all necessary medications while in the hospital
  • Diapers
  • Breast pump
