Denver Health's Hematology/Oncology team operates under the direction of nationally-recognized Medical Oncologist Sonia Okuyama, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Colorado. In conjunction with a proactive team who is committed to providing expert hematologic and cancer care, our physicians and nurse practitioner have trained at major institutions across the country and here in Colorado.

They all hold faculty appointments at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, participating in the education of medical students and doctors-in-training at Denver Health, the University of Colorado Hospital and the Denver Veteran's Administration Hospital. They have distinguished themselves as both outstanding clinicians and accomplished researchers in their individual areas of interest, performing the latest diagnostic testing in hematology and oncology, and employ the most current techniques to treat blood disorders and cancers.
Our team of providers is supported by a nurse manager, clinic RNs, infusion RNs, medical assistants, scheduling clerks, a social worker, an infusion center pharmacist, a Cancer Resource Center director, psychologists and Cancer Clinical Research coordinator.
We work closely with primary care physicians who focus on cancer screening and detection, surgical oncologists, urologic surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, head and neck cancer surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists and radiologists.
