Cancer Care Services

Our cancer care team provides care for patients with all types of cancer, hematological malignancies and other disorders of the blood, such as anemia and bleeding or clotting problems.

Outpatient and inpatient services are provided at Denver Health, including general medical oncology and hematology clinics, breast cancer clinic, lung cancer clinic at the Davis Pavilion, and the Department of Corrections outpatient clinic.

All cancer patients benefit from the expertise and collaboration of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, oncologic surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, oncology nurses, infusion center nurses, oncologic pharmacists, social workers, rehabilitation specialists and patient navigators.

  • Clinical trials in collaboration with the University of Colorado Cancer Center
  • Patient Navigator Research Program funded through the National Cancer Institute
  • Breast Cancer Treatment Support Program funded through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation
  • Patient Resource Center and Survivorship Research Program funded through the Lance Armstrong Foundation
  • The Hematology-Oncology Division receives funding through the National Cancer Institute, and affiliates with the University of Colorado Cancer Center to participate in clinical trials to improve treatment for many types of cancer and hematological malignancies
  • The Division also participates in a number of pharmaceutical industry-sponsored clinical trials to evaluate new and promising types of cancer treatment
  • Division researchers receive funding from the National Cancer Institute to study the benefit of patient navigation in improving the care of cancer patients
  • National Cancer Institute funding also supports research to evaluate an interactive multimedia internet-based patient information and decision support program for patients with newly diagnosed breast and prostate cancer and for breast cancer patients after completion of treatment
  • Division researchers also participate in research defining the role of biomarkers and hormones in cancer treatment and outcomes
