Now in its second year, the Rural Education Symposium is a two-day training event designed to support rural healthcare providers in the care of critically ill or injured patients.
Through hands-on skills training and case-based discussions, the symposium equips providers with the knowledge and confidence to manage high-acuity situations in resource-limited settings.
Topics include identifying patients suitable for local management, recognizing when transfers are necessary, and navigating common challenges in rural emergency medicine—such as limited diagnostics, staffing variability, and extended transport times. The goal is to promote best practices, improve decision-making, and strengthen care delivery for rural communities.
