Denver Health operates a myriad of pharmacies under the Pharmacy department. For our patients' convenience, pharmacies include Central Fill for telephone refills, five community health center pharmacies, Denver Public Health, an outpatient pharmacy on the main campus, an inpatient pharmacy at Denver Health Medical Center and various pharmacies on inpatient floors. The pharmacy department fills more than 700,000 prescriptions annually.
Denver Health’s residency program trains pharmacy students from the University of Colorado’s School of Pharmacy and Regis University’s School of Pharmacy. These students have introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPE) and advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPE) as fourth year students at Denver Health Medical Center’s inpatient and outpatient pharmacies.
Students also have rotations in Denver Health’s family health centers, a series of eight clinics in underserved communities that serve more than 120,000 patients annually.
Students in pharmacy technician training programs receive training at Denver Health’s pharmacy
department and complete their inpatient pharmacy rotations.
