Coursera Skills Bootcamp:
Welcome our Coursera Skills Camp information page. This information page is specific to the skills camp for the Become an EMT Specialization course hosted in conjunction with Coursera.
This skills camp is exclusively for those people who have completed the online specialization found here.
The EMT Specialization, offered in collaboration with the Denver Health Paramedic Division EMS Education Program - a Colorado recognized EMS education program - provides the student the opportunity to meet the requirements for the National Registry of EMT (NREMT) exam for the state of Colorado only. The University of Colorado has not been able to determine if the education provided in the EMT Specialization meets the educational requirements for licensure in other states, U.S. territories or other countries. If you have questions about how the NREMT applies to your state, please contact your state's EMS Administration offices.
For more information about what may be required for licensure in your state, please review the information provided by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The University of Colorado and the Denver Health Paramedic Division EMS Education Program strongly recommend that your contact the appropriate state agency to determine if, upon the completion of this program, you would be eligible for the licensure exam in that state. Additionally, you should also contact the applicable licensing board to determine any other requirements you may need to fulfill in order to obtain the EMT or EMS licensure in a particular state. Some licensing boards may require you to take additional post-graduation examinations, acquire additional experience, pay application and/or licensing fees, undergo criminal background checks, submit fingerprints, or provide other information prior to obtaining licensure.
Once you have passed the NREMT exam, you may apply for initial Colorado EMS provider certification with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Initial applicants for Colorado EMS provider certification must gather the following prior to applying for certification:
If you are interested in pursuing licensure or certification outside of Colorado, please contact the appropriate agency in your state. You can find a list of all state EMS offices at the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
If you have found this page in error while looking for an EMT course, please follow this link for information about the variety of EMT and Paramedic courses offered at Denver Health or check out what is offered through Coursera.

What is this skills camp?
This is an intensive weeklong course taught by our expert EMT instructors here at Denver Health. They will share their clinical expertise as well as knowledge of the national registry requirements to accomplish two things:
This skills camp gives you the opportunity to actually perform the skills that you have learned in the online environment and to master the application of those skills. These skills range from administering medications, to managing an airway, to performing complete patient evaluations. This course includes the opportunity to take the psychomotor/skills portion of the national registry exam. Upon completion of this course, you will go through a seven-station skills exam and, if successful, will receive authorization for the written test for NREMT. While we hope everybody is successful in this endeavor, simply coming to and participating in this skills camp does not guarantee the ability to take the written portion of the national registry exam.
What is required of me in order to enroll in this skills camp?
Where is this offered?
Currently, this course is only offered in Denver at Denver Health.
How much will it cost?
The cost for the skills camp itself is $1,200.00. It does not include the cost of travel, housing, meals, or transportation while in Denver. We do have a list of information and resources we can provide to you upon request if you are not familiar with the area.
Other things you should know:
Classes will be capped at 18 students.
Coming to this class does not guarantee passing the psychomotor or skills portion of the National Registry of EMT exam that is offered on the last day. Studying and practicing both before the camp and during the camp is highly recommended.
Denver is an awesome city to visit and explore. Your week will be very busy, but you should have time to see a few of the sights outside of class.
