Spinal Cord Injury Primary Care Clinic

The Spinal Cord Injury Primary Care Clinic at Denver Health opened in March 2020. Starting August 26, 2021, it will be located in the Primary Care Center, on the seventh floor of the Outpatient Medical Center (Pavilion L) on Denver Health’s main campus. The Clinic is currently seeing patients twice monthly.

Population Served

The Spinal Cord Injury Primary Care Clinic’s goal is to serve patients with spinal cord injuries to increase access to comprehensive primary care for patients who use mobility devices. The clinic accepts all patients who need care.

The Need for Primary Care Clinics for Patients with Spinal Cord Injuries

Access to accessibility-competent medical care can often be a challenge for patients with spinal cord injuries and other mobility concerns. Recognizing this lack of equity, Denver Health has created a clinic: one on the hospital’s main campus to provide comprehensive primary health care for these individuals. The clinic has equipment and staff trained to assist in safe patient transfers, as well as providers with additional interest and training in problems faced by patients with spinal cord injuries. Denver Health also provides access to both primary care and specialty care including medical rehabilitation, wound care and urology. The primary care team coordinates and consults with physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists from both Denver Health and throughout the Denver metro area to provide the best care possible.
