Denver Health has named Aaron Eberhardt, MD, an emergency medicine physician with nearly two decades of leadership experience, as associate chair of emergency medical services (EMS) and medical director of the Denver Health Paramedic Division, following a competitive national search conducted by Denver Health and the Denver Department of Public Safety.
“Dr. Eberhardt brings a rare combination of deep institutional knowledge, national EMS expertise and a steadfast commitment to the paramedics and EMTs who serve our community every day,” said Stephen Wolf, MD, chair of emergency medicine at Denver Health. “As emergency care continues to evolve beyond the walls of the hospital, his leadership will be critical to strengthening care delivery in the field, improving outcomes for patients and advancing a more integrated, equitable emergency care system for Denver.”
Eberhardt earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2004 and completed residency training in emergency medicine at Denver Health. He later completed a fellowship in EMS and disaster medicine at Denver Health.
For the past 18 years, he has served as associate medical director of the Denver Health Paramedic Division, where he has helped shape clinical practice and lead system-wide improvements in emergency medical care.
Throughout his career, Eberhardt has held key leadership roles, including EMS fellowship director, dean of the Denver Health Paramedic School, and physician lead for EMS quality and safety. In these roles, he led initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes, standardizing cardiac arrest care and strengthening coordination across the emergency care continuum.
Eberhardt also remains actively involved in trauma system performance through the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program and has contributed to regional and state EMS efforts through the Regional Emergency Trauma Advisory Council (RETAC) and the Emergency Medical Practice Advisory Council (EMPAC).
Denver Health officials said Eberhardt’s appointment reflects his long-standing commitment to both patient care and to supporting the paramedics and EMTs who serve the Denver community.
