Denver Health Pediatrics

Denver Health’s pediatric team is who you want by your side when your child needs expert medical attention.

When your little one wakes up with a stomach bug, a high fever, or any other health concern, it's natural to feel worried and unsure.

At Denver Health’s Pediatric Emergency Department and Urgent Care, we understand your concerns and are here to support you every step of the way. Our dedicated emergency and pediatric physicians provide compassionate, round-the-clock care in our Pediatric Emergency Department and Urgent Care. No matter the time of day or night, you can rely on us to be there for your child's health needs.

Denver Health is home to the only full-service level II pediatric trauma center in Denver.

At our Pediatrics Primary Care health centers your child will receive check-ups, vaccinations, school physicals, and care when your child is sick or recovering from an injury.

Webb Pediatric Specialty Clinics offer pediatric specialty care from expert physicians in the areas of allergy, pulmonology (lungs), cardiology (heart), dermatology (skin), neurology (brain), gastroenterology (stomach and intestinal tract), rehabilitation, and surgery.

We also offer comprehensive care for children with special health care needs in our Complex Care Clinic, as well as multidisciplinary care for weight management in our Healthy Lifestyles Clinic. Our team is trained to work with children and works hard to make sure both kids and their families feel comfortable during their visits. To contact our clinic, call 303-602-8340.

The Connections for Kids Clinic (CFKC) provides comprehensive health care to children and youth in kinship and foster care. Our comprehensive, team-based approach provides care for the whole child. As a result, visits may take longer to complete compared to typical medical-only visits.

Also, providers in CFKC can complete all necessary paperwork for foster parents to fulfill all state and local requirements. 

The CFKC is recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Healthy Foster Care America.

peds schoolDenver Health’s School-based Health Centers (SBHC) form a large network of 19 health centers located inside Denver Public School (DPS) campuses.

These centers provide medical, mental health, dental and behavioral health care to any DPS student and sibling(s), including children enrolled in DPS-affiliated early childhood education programs at no charge to families.

We also offer virtual care options, health education and family planning, as well as insurance enrollment and advising services. 

Our dedicated pediatric dental team provides a fun, gentle and caring approach to help children feel more relaxed at their dental visits. Our services include:

  • Checkups and cleanings
  • Dental examinations and X-rays
  • Fluoride and cavity treatments and more

pediatric servicesIf your child needs to stay overnight in the hospital, our diverse, inpatient care team of pediatricians, pediatric intensivists, neonatologists, hospitalists, and neonatal advance practice practitioners are experts at providing high-quality and transparent, family-centered care to you and your child. 

Our services include: 

  • Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU): We have a Level 3 NICU, and we care for babies born at less than 32 weeks' gestation and babies born with critical illness.
  • Pediatric Inpatient: The Inpatient Pediatric Unit at Denver Health cares for children from birth through adolescence with acute illness or injury.   
  • Pediatric Intensive Care: As a Level 2 pediatric trauma center, we care for children who need critical care when children have a serious injury or illness.  

ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders & Severe Malnutrition at Denver Health is the only dedicated medical intensive care unit specifically for patients with extreme forms of eating disorders and severe malnutrition who are severely underweight or who are experiencing urgent medical issues.

We treat people of all genders, ages 15 and older (adolescents and adults). 

The Child Life program at Denver Health supports and empowers children, youth, and families during stressful medical experiences.

Child Life specialists work with the health care team to help children cope with medical procedures, such as IVs and surgery. The specialists also normalize your hospital stay by playing with children and youth at the bedside or in two different playrooms. The specialists also help children and youth understand their diagnosis, and they help decrease stress or anxiety for you and child throughout their medical experience. 

Pathology and laboratory testing assists healthcare providers in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a multitude of medical conditions and diseases. If your doctor requests lab work to be performed, your specimen can be collected at any laboratory in the very clinic you are seen. If available, testing will also be performed in the clinic laboratory on site. We have high quality laboratory services and dedicated laboratory staff. We are committed to providing you and your doctor with the most efficient services and do so with compassion.  

Denver Health’s Palliative Care team provides a whole-person approach to caring for people with serious illnesses, such as cancer, COPD, heart failure, liver failure or kidney disease. We pride ourselves in helping patients and their families improve quality of life in response to their unique and changing needs throughout the course of an illness.

Denver Health Nursing is committed to the achievement of high-quality care delivery to diverse populations. We honor our nurses and nursing staff through various methods, such as supporting the development of career planning and offering many opportunities for nurses to practice in a variety of settings.  

Denver Health Nursing has a rich history of caring that includes opening the first nursing school in Colorado and the first nursing school west of the Mississippi.  

The Neurology Division provides care for patients with diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Neurology Division physicians see patients on an inpatient Neurology service, an inpatient consultation service and through a variety of Neurology outpatient clinics.

The Neurology Division also collaborates closely with colleagues in Neurosurgery, Diagnostic Neuroradiology, Interventional Radiology, Rehabilitation and Medical Intensive Care Unit to treat the full spectrum of acute and chronic neurologic illnesses.
