Patient Privacy at Denver Health
Denver Health takes seriously our commitment to protecting your health records. For more information, read our full Notice of Privacy Practices.
Changes to Medicaid Information Sharing between Federal Agencies
As of Jan. 6, 2026, federal changes allow Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)—the federal government’s agency that oversees Medicaid, CHIP/CHP+ and Medicare—to share limited Medicaid information with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
To be clear, Denver Health has not made any changes to our practices in protecting your health information. This change in information sharing is between federal agencies, and you should know:
- Disenrolling from Medicaid does not erase information that CMS already has and may send to ICE.
- CMS does not have information about past or upcoming appointment times or locations.
- Regardless of where a person goes for health care, CMS can share the information they have access to.
