Jeffrey Kahl,* DDS - Program Director
Kahl earned his DDS at the University of Colorado after completing his undergraduate degree at Colorado State. He served in the U.S. Navy before completing a pediatric dentistry residency at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where he later taught for 12 years. He is a past president of the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a fellow of the American College of Dentists, and currently serves as ADA 14th District Trustee. A strong advocate for children’s oral health at both the state and national level, Kahl is the Program Director for Pediatric Dentistry at Denver Health.
Kojo Danso,* DMD
Danso earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Arizona and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He completed his pediatric dentistry residency at Drexel University/St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Before joining Denver Health in 2019, Danso served as adjunct faculty at Temple University and later worked at Children’s Hospital Colorado. He has been an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry since 2012.
Karen Foster,* DDS
Foster earned her DDS from Baylor College of Dentistry and completed her pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Texas-Houston. Since 2004, she has practiced in private, public health, and academic settings. A past president of both the Colorado Dental Association and the Metro Denver Dental Society, Foster also serves nationally on the Board of Regents for the International College of Dentists. She lectures across the country on ethics and mental health in dentistry and is a passionate advocate for patients and the profession. At Denver Health, she leads didactic instruction and focuses on care for patients with Special Health Care Needs.
Scott Hamilton,* DDS
Hamilton joined Denver Health full-time in 2020 after more than 18 years teaching at the University of Nebraska and Children’s Hospital Colorado, alongside running a private practice in Lincoln, Neb. He and his wife have four kids, five pets, and he’s never without a dad joke.
Winnie Hsu,* DMD
Hsu earned her DMD at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center. She has been involved in private practice and postdoctoral teaching since 2012. She now brings her clinical and academic experience to Denver Health.
Jennie Marinucci-Vineyard,* DMD
Marinucci-Vinyard earned her DMD at Harvard University and completed pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She joined Denver Health in 2022 as a full time faculty member. Passionate expanding access to care through school-based health care, she serves as the provider for Denver Public Schools’ Mobile Restorative Dentistry clinic and the director of Denver Health's Virtual Early Childhood Dentistry department. She is also pursuing a Master of Public Health at Brown University.
Katharine Sumerfield,* DDS
Sumerfield earned her degree at the University of Colorado, following graduation she worked for a year at a Medicaid office in Grand Junction, Colo. Pursuing her passion for pediatric dentistry, Sumerfield completed her residency training at the University of Nebraska. She joined Denver Health in 2023 as a Community Provider. Sumerfield works at multiple Satellite clinics throughout the organization bringing excellent care to our pediatric population.
Adjunct Faculty
Darby Barfield, **DMD
Barfield attended UC Berkeley before earning her DMD from the University of Connecticut Health Science Center. She graduated from The Children’s Hospital Pediatric Dental residency program in 2002. She has specialized in public health dentistry with an emphasis in prevention and education. She joined Denver Health in 2024.
Laurence Colletti, ** DDS (Orthodontist)
Colletti graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and served as a pilot before completing dental school at Baylor and orthodontic residency at LSU. He practiced orthodontics in Colorado for 35 years, taught at the University of Colorado, and has volunteered on numerous international medical missions. He joined Denver Health as an orthodontic attending in 2021.
Jill Decker,* DDS
Decker graduated from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed her pediatric dental residency at Children's Hospital Colorado. She was in private practice from 1997-2025 and has served as part-time faculty with Denver Health Pediatric Dentistry since 2022.
Bianca Hoffman,* DMD
Hoffman owns Kids Camp & Co. Pediatric Dentistry in Parker. She earned her DMD, Masters and Pediatric dental certificate from Nova Southeastern University. She has been an adjunct clinical faculty member at Denver Health's Pediatric Dental residency since 2022. She currently serves on the board of a local non-profit, Kids In Need of Dentistry. She has also served as secretary for the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Autumn Hurd, *DDS
Hurd completed her undergraduate and dental school education at The University of Oklahoma. Her pediatric residency training occurred at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Dr Hurd operated a private practice in the Denver metro for over twenty years before entering full time academics. Hurd has teaching appointments at Denver Health, Children’s Colorado, and The University of Oklahoma. Hurd is a past president of the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Carol Morrow, DDS
Morrow graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2006 and has since held numerous leadership roles, including Past President of the Colorado Dental Association, chair of the ADA’s 14th District, and president of the Arkansas Valley Dental Society. A fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy, she currently serves on the ADA Council for Advocacy, Access, and Prevention. Passionate about ensuring access to quality dental care across Colorado, she lives in Colorado Springs with her husband and four children, and enjoys running, gardening, and skiing.
Bryan Savage,* DDS
Savage earned his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University, his DDS from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and completed his Pediatric Dental Residency at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. He has maintained a private practice in the Denver Metro area since 2008 and has served as Adjunct Faculty at Denver Health since 2022. Active in organized dentistry, he is the 2025–2026 President of the Metro Denver Dental Society. Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, he is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and their regional, state, and local affiliates. In 2025, he will be inducted into the International College of Dentists.
Michael Scheidt, **DDS (Periodontics)
Scheidt graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry and the U.S. Army Institute of Dental Research at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His teaching roles include serving as Director of the U.S. Army Periodontic Residency Program and, during his 20 years in private practice, mentoring residents in the General Practice Residency Program at the Denver VA Medical Center. He is a past president of the Metro Denver Dental Society and served on its Board of Directors for two decades.
Annie Skradski, DDS
Skradski earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center before heading west to make Colorado her home. During her advanced training in general dentistry at a public health clinic, she discovered her passion and strength for caring for pediatric patients and their families. She went on to complete her pediatric dental residency at Denver Health in 2025 and now serves as a part-time faculty member there while also practicing at Children’s Dentistry in Westminster. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys skiing, hiking, live music, and traveling with her fiancé. She is excited to be part of an incredible team dedicated to promoting healthy habits and creating a personalized experience for every child.
Sarah Villasenor,* DDS
Villasenor obtained her undergraduate degree in Spanish at the University of Notre Dame, dental training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and pediatric dental residency at Children's Hospital Colorado. She served as President of the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry from 2016-2020, and now owns Rise and Shine Pediatric Dentistry in Denver. She serves on the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Craniofacial Team and has a special interest in sensory-aware dentistry and family education. Outside the clinic, she enjoys racing marathons and biking, skiing, and hiking with her husband and three young children.
Sean Whalen,* DDS, MS
Whalen, born and raised in Eastern Iowa, discovered his love for Colorado after marrying his wife, Brandy, in Glenwood Springs, and they now call Denver home with their three sons—Ewan, Holden, and Emmett. He earned his dental degree and advanced pediatric dentistry training at the University of Iowa and has been part of Children’s Dentistry for over 20 years, as well as a provider at Denver Health for nearly a decade. Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry, Whalen is active in the Colorado Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. While devoted to his Denver community, he remains a loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoys an active lifestyle with his family.
Jeffrey Young,* DDS
Young earned his DDS from the University of Iowa and completed his pediatric residency at Eastman Dental Center. He brings extensive experience from both private practice and academia, having dedicated 23 years to private practice before transitioning to academics in 2011. Within his academic career, he served as Sedation Director at Children’s Hospital Colorado and, in 2019, was appointed Program Director to establish and lead the Pediatric Dental Residency at Denver Health. He guided the program’s development until 2023, when he moved into a part-time role as a sedation attending faculty member, continuing his dedication to pediatric dental education and patient care. Young is also a retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel.
