The 49th annual National EMS Week is May 21-27 and is an opportunity to celebrate emergency medical services practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. This year's theme is “EMS: Where Emergency Care Begins.”

April is Occupational Therapy Month, and Denver Health thanks all of our incredible occupational therapists who help patients prepare to leave the hospital and safely return home. They teach patients how to perform activities of daily living, or ADLs – such as getting out of bed, getting dressed, using the restroom, eating – while they recover from injury. Occupational therapists work with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, speech therapists and others, to make discharge plans to safely get patients out of the hospital and back home or in some form of housing.

The Tuberculosis Clinic at The Public Health Institute at Denver Health (PHIDH) has started an investigation into a tuberculosis (TB) exposure at George Washington High School in Denver. PHIDH is working closely with Denver’s Department of Public Health and Environment and Denver Public Schools to educate faculty and students about TB. Those who may have been exposed have already been contacted and will be tested.

Beginning Wednesday, March 1, asymptomatic patients, visitors and vaccinated staff at all Denver Health facilities may choose to mask but are no longer required to do so. This decision is aligned with other peer health care institutions in the Denver metro area.
