Integrated Medical and Psychiatric (IMAP) Care Unit

In the IMAP Care Unit, patients receive specialized, efficient care that meets their physical and mental health needs at the same time.

About IMAP (Opening Mid-December)

The IMAP Care Unit is a highly specialized inpatient unit providing comprehensive, integrated care for patients with serious co-occurring mental and physical health conditions that require hospitalization.

IMAP’s inpatient 12-bed unit is designed to treat adult patients ages 18 years and older with active medical and active psychiatric conditions that require inpatient stabilization.

The IMAP provides timely, comprehensive care for medically and psychiatrically complex patients, including intensive psychotherapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and more. This unique unit is made possible through a collaborative team of medical and psychiatric providers, including internal medicine physicians, adult psychiatrists, nurses with med-surg and psychiatric experience and more.

Did you know?

  • Denver Health’s IMAP Care Unit is the first unit of its kind in Colorado.
  • While we know our community needs this type of care, only 2.7% of U.S. hospitals have a unit like IMAP.
  • Funding for IMAP’s innovative care model was made possible thanks to Denver voters’ approval of sustainable sales tax funding for Denver Health.
  • Units similar to IMAP may also be commonly referred to as medical psychiatry units (med-psych/MPUs) and complexity intervention units (CIUs).
