Letter from the Chair of Behavioral Health

Christian Thurstone, MD

As the Chair of Behavioral Health, I want to extend a personal welcome to you.

For decades, Denver Health has been investing in and building a robust system of behavioral health care to serve the Colorado community. We are proud to offer a full spectrum of high-quality services for children, adolescents, and adults.

Our foundational belief is that the brain is part of the body, and your behavioral health should be considered a routine part of your overall medical care. This allows us to seamlessly integrate your behavioral health care with the rest of your physical care.

Our organizational values (cultivating respect, communicating with transparency, promoting a place where everyone belongs, and holding ourselves accountable) are at the core of everything we do.

As a leader, I am committed to empowering our staff and removing barriers so they can provide the best possible care for our patients.

This dedication to being a "learning health system" means we are always seeking to learn and improve so that you receive the best possible care.

It is these values and our enduring mission that have made me proud to be a part of the Denver Health team for more than 20 years.

We look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward optimal mental health and well-being.

Christian Thurstone, MD, MS

Chair of Behavioral Health & Correctional Care, Denver Health; Professor of Psychiatry, University of Colorado School of Medicine
