Hello, Little One is a donor-funded, volunteer-powered program that ensures every baby born at Denver Health is welcomed into the world with care, dignity, and love. For more than 20 years, the program has helped thousands of newborns begin life with the essentials for a safe and healthy start. Each baby born at Denver Health leaves with a warm welcome bag, made possible by generous donors and packed with care each week by our incredible volunteers.
Today, nearly half of all babies born in Denver take their very first breath at Denver Health, and many of their families face real economic hardship. Hello, Little One helps ease that burden by ensuring families leave the hospital with what they need most during those first critical and vulnerable days at home.
Each welcome bag includes necessities like diapers and wipes, along with heartfelt gifts such as handmade blankets and hats created by volunteers who pour love into every stitch. Each year, more than 4,300 families leave the hospital with not only essential supplies, but also a powerful message: You are not alone. You have an entire community that cares.

TO VOLUNTEER:
Volunteers play a vital role in helping us welcome Denver’s newest babies! During our pre-scheduled two-hour packing shifts, volunteers work together to sort donated items, organize supplies, and pack warm welcome bags filled with essentials for newborn families at Denver Health.
Volunteer packing sessions take place throughout the month, and the schedule is shared through our Hello, Little One mailing list.
We also welcome group volunteer opportunities for schools, community organizations, and companies. Groups interested in scheduling a volunteer session—especially for corporate service events—should contact hellolittleone@dhha.org directly.
