Denver Health is an organization that is proud of our longstanding commitment to our entire community, but especially to those among us who are the most vulnerable. We know, based on hundreds of thousands of interactions every year, that people of color face social and economic challenges, including the impact of racism, both blatant and subtle, in every aspect of their lives. 

Today, Denver Health joined a citywide effort organized by the Downtown Denver Partnership to clean up downtown Denver's streets after six nights of protests sparked by the tragic death of George Floyd. Hundreds of volunteers turned out in the early morning to help clean the streets of all litter around the 16th Street Mall and the Colorado State Capitol.

As scientists and infectious disease physicians work to better understand the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), they have discovered that many patients who contract the virus are showing new symptoms or in some cases, mild or no symptoms at all. The COVID-19 outbreak was first identified in Wuhan, China in December of 2019 and as a new infectious disease, providers need to react and change their diagnosis strategy as they continue to study it.

Denver Health SICU Wins Silver Beacon Award

Denver Health is proud to recognize our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) for receiving the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Denver Health is adapting the way we offer many of our essential services to keep all of our patients safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of those areas is Family Planning, which includes birth control, testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and emergency contraception.

During the spread of COVID-19, many people in shared households will have to help care for a loved one or friend who has contracted the virus. The infected person will be told to self-quarantine themselves, but this can be especially tough under certain conditions.

Update May 13, 2020: Denver Health has now treated and released 332 patients who contracted the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
