Stop the Bleed campaign highlights importance of early intervention
April is Occupational Therapy Month, and Denver Health thanks all of our incredible occupational therapists who help patients prepare to leave the hospital and safely return home. They teach patients how to perform activities of daily living, or ADLs – such as getting out of bed, getting dressed, using the restroom, eating – while they recover from injury. Occupational therapists work with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, speech therapists and others, to make discharge plans to safely get patients out of the hospital and back home or in some form of housing.
Denver Health showcased its three Mobile Health Centers last week at an open house attended by staff, board members and dozens of community partners.
The Mobile Health Centers provide access to high-quality health care by bringing it right to Denver neighborhoods. Each mobile unit specializes in an area of care, including cancer screening, primary care and vaccinations. These centers are here to support our community’s health and can refer patients to other Denver Health services if needed.
March 19-25 is National Poison Prevention Week, and the director of the Rocky Mountain Poison Center has provided answers to some common questions about poisons and how to respond in case of exposure. Denver Health and the RMPC encourage people to share this information with loved ones and friends to help stay as safe as possible. The Tuberculosis Clinic at The Public Health Institute at Denver Health (PHIDH) has started an investigation into a tuberculosis (TB) exposure at George Washington High School in Denver. PHIDH is working closely with Denver’s Department of Public Health and Environment and Denver Public Schools to educate faculty and students about TB. Those who may have been exposed have already been contacted and will be tested.
Beginning Wednesday, March 1, asymptomatic patients, visitors and vaccinated staff at all Denver Health facilities may choose to mask but are no longer required to do so. This decision is aligned with other peer health care institutions in the Denver metro area.
