Monkeypox in Colorado: Spread, Symptoms and Prevention

Monkeypox cases are exponentially increasing nationwide. So much so that the disease’s rapid spread was recently declared by the Biden administration and World Health Organization a Public Health Emergency. Dr. Sarah Rowan, an infectious disease expert at Denver Health, noted that while this designation brings more attention and funding to monkeypox treatment and research, more needs to be done to slow further spread of monkeypox in our communities.

Update: Coming in 2023: Bariatric Surgery for Teens

August 18, 2022

Update: Plans to expand care at the Denver Health Bariatric Surgery Center to patients ages 16-20 are still in the works with an anticipated opening of the adolescent bariatric surgery center in November 2022 and our first surgeries for adolescent patients sometime in 2023. Our Bariatric Surgery Center is currently undergoing reaccreditation through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) for our adult patients with approval expected soon.
