The Inpatient Psychiatric department at Denver Health has 21 beds for children and teens, ages six to 17 years, with significant emotional and mental health issues. Our approach to treatment is based on current medical research showing what works best for children, teens and families in crisis.
The outpatient team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and a clinical nurse specialist, provides psychological services for children, teens and families. Children ages two to 17 can be seen for a wide variety of behavioral and emotional disorders, ranging from adjustment issues to major mental health illnesses.
The inpatient unit at Denver Health has 45 beds and serves adult patients experiencing behavioral problems or those having difficulty meeting basic living needs due to a combination of mental, physical or substance abuse problems.
The Adult Outpatient Mental Health team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, master’s level therapists and prescribers, and care coordinators. Individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, couples therapy, medication management, and case management are offered for a wide range of psychiatric disorders (including trauma-related disorders) for patients aged 18 and up.

The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service at Denver Health provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with comorbid psychiatric and medical disorders. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists and trainees of all levels.

Forensic Psychiatry works closely with the judicial system, providing the following:
Neuropsychology focuses on the assessment of how a person's brain is working. Although brain scans such as CT or MRI can show physical damage to the brain, changes in how the brain works (for example, memory or attention) often do not match the damage shown on a scan.
The faculty of the forensic psychiatry program includes attorneys, forensic psychiatrists and child/adolescent psychiatrists. The forensic program provides psychiatric experts in disputes involving civil, criminal and administrative law.

Thoughts of hopelessness, despair, increased use of drugs or alcohol, or withdrawing from social contact might indicate symptoms of suicide.
