Denver Health’s Infectious Disease Department, in conjunction with our Infectious Disease colleagues in the Denver Department of Public Health, provide a diverse team of doctors and nurses who offer patient-centered care and are available for consultation and continuing care for all common and complex infectious disease problems, both acute and chronic.
Our multidisciplinary approach to orthopedic and diabetic foot infections is truly unique and is designed to optimize outcomes. Our hepatitis C management and treatment programs are led by national and international leaders in the field who have pioneered our approaches to treating chronic infections.
Many of the services provided by the Infectious Disease Division are in-hospital in the form of consultations on patients admitted with severe infection or who develop infectious complications during their hospital stay for other indications. However, we offer a number of services in outpatient clinics.

Orthopedic Infectious Disease Clinic
We provide comprehensive and integrated care for patients with skin, soft tissue (muscle) or bone infections. Expert care is provided in a multidisciplinary clinic which combines surgical expertise across multiple disciplines (orthopedics, plastic surgery, hand and foot surgery) with infectious disease physicians and nurse practitioners specializing in these types of infections. We feel the multidisciplinary approach is the key to optimal management of these often challenging infections.Diabetic wound and foot infection management is the key to long-term health and avoiding amputation in diabetics. Management of these cases can be particularly challenging and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Our providers work closely with surgeons and interventional cardiologists to optimize both surgical management and optimize and restore circulation as a critical component of infection management and healing.
While many of the patients we see are transitioning from hospital to outpatient care, the clinic is always available for outpatient consultation on the management of complex orthopedic infections.
Hepatitis C Treatment Clinics
In the United States, hepatitis C is the most common blood borne infection and now accounts for more deaths annually than HIV. Denver Health’s multidisciplinary treatment team is leading the hepatitis C (HCV) treatment revolution in Denver. Our team consists of Infectious Disease physicians and nurse practitioners specializing in HCV treatment working in conjunction with Denver Health hepatologists and pharmacists to provide state-of-the-art curative therapy to patients living with hepatitis C.
