Leadership

Kathryn Witzeman, Director, Women’s Integrative Pelvic Health Program

Kathryn Witzeman, MD, FACOG is a Fellow of the American College of OBGYN and also Fellowship trained in Integrative Medicine. She is a nationally recognized leader in the integrative treatment of pelvic pain disorders.

Dr. Witzeman guides our team of healthcare providers including doctors, nurse practitioners, pelvic health physical therapists, health psychologists and professional nurse coordination - all of whom are dedicated to partnering with you to help you regain your quality of life. In 2008, Dr. Witzeman founded the Women's Integrative Pelvic Health Program at Denver Health Medical Center and has overseen its growth and development as its Director since inception.

She is also an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine. Dr. Witzeman joined the Board of Directors of IPPS in 2014 and has been a member since 2007. Her clinical and research interests include vulvovaginal disorders, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, menopausal problems, biomedical ethics as it applies to the field of OBGYN and medical education. She has also successfully completed the 2012 APGO Scholars and Leaders program. 

She completed her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati SOM and subsequently completed her OBGYN residency training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  Dr. Witzeman’s interests outside of medicine include hiking, mountain biking, organic gardening and playing with her yellow lab, Gunnar. 

 

Cynthia Aspromonte, Lead Holistic Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Integrative Pelvic Health Program

Cynthia Aspromonte, RN-C, WHCNP, AHN-BC, HTCP-I, ATMAT-C P/I, is a nationally-recognized Certified Women's Healthcare Nurse Practitioner and Board-Certified Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse. She has extensive experience guiding women through health challenges such as fertility issues, irregular periods, menopausal symptoms, pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, uterine fibroids, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, polycystic ovaries and PMS.

She is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner and Instructor and a Certified Practitioner and Instructor through the Arvigo Institute of Maya Abdominal Therapy. Since 1984, she has successfully integrated many different holistic modalities into her care with women, serving as a bridge by walking between the worlds of complementary and integrative medicine, traditional indigenous practices and modern medicine. She has, in a unique way, incorporated into her medical care: herbal and botanical medicine and complementary therapies such as energy medicine, visualization and imagery, mindfulness, healing touch, Arvigo Abdominal Therapy, Maya Spiritual Healing and ceremonies honoring the sacred passages and transitions of life. 

Her passion is guiding women to reunite with their wisdom within, helping them navigate through the changing waters of life's transitions, emerging feeling refreshed, replenished and reinvigorated.  She is grateful to the traditional elders and healers who have shared their knowledge and wisdom with her in order to pass this on to more women and their families.
